Disappeared in America documents the human cost of an unprecedented mass deportation policy launched in 2025 under the Trump administration: the neighbors, parents, children and workers who have been separated from their families, detained, harmed and/or deported.
We center the individual stories of people, including children, families and workers, who have been swept up by a cruel, costly and chaotic agenda. These stories carry a truth that numbers alone cannot.

This is more than an archive. It is evidence. It is memory. And it is a tool for the people working to make sure this moment in American history is never forgotten, and never repeated.
In partnership with the Illinois Office of New Americans and the Illinois Accountability Commission, Disappeared in America features the work of the Commission which investigated the conduct of federal agents during “Operation Midway Blitz” and the Trump Administration’s operations throughout the Chicagoland area. Their efforts are a public record to prevent future harm and an accountability guide for current governments and future leaders.
